Key Points of NEP
FOUNDATIONAL STAGE (5): For 3 to 8 year olds, suggested multi-level play activity based learning will include pre-school or commonly known as Anganwadi school and kindergarten classes for 3 to 6 year olds. For students 1 and 2 grades or classes 1 and 2 will be included. Drama-based and action-based curricula will also be added to those aged from 6 to 8 years with a focus on language proficiency and teaching.
Preparatory Stage (3): This is the focus for ages 8 to 11 or 3 to 5 The focus is to play, discover and learn activity-based and interactive classrooms. Up to this stage a child will continue to develop language and numeracy skills in harmony with cognitive development. The medium of instruction up to 5th grade is the home language or mother tongue or local language. All students will be taught three languages - and the states will choose which one.
Middle Stage (3): Referring to grades 7 to 8, the new structure aims to transform the education system from an existing system into more practical education in science, mathematics, fine arts, social sciences and humanities. The focus should be on critical learning goals, not on rot learning
Secondary Level (4): This includes classes 9 to 12 or secondary and higher secondary as we know it today. The proposed changes at this stage include a multi-disciplinary study where students will be able to pick and choose any subject from the available framework. The focus will be on greater critical thinking and flexibility, allowing children to choose subjects according to their interests, even technical and fine arts.
👉👉👉 After master's degree, you don't have to do MPhil anymore. Instead, students will be able to do a PhD directly. In addition, the undergraduate pass course is 3 years, honors is 4 years and postgraduate is 1 year.
