 Today, Hindi was first adopted as the official language by the Constituent Assembly on September 14, 1949.  Hindi is spoken by about 258 million people and is recognized as the fourth "most spoken" language in the world.Todey is Hindi Diwas

  The new national education policy of the Modi government will also help in the development of Hindi and other languages, Shah said in his tweet.

 

  Hindi was first adopte

d as the official language by the Constituent Assembly of India on September 14, 1949.  Hindi is spoken by about 258 million people and is recognized as the fourth "most spoken" language in the world.

  On January 26, 1950, the Constitution of India decided that Hindi would be adopted as the official language of India.


  Many ministers have greeted this day

 

  Union Home Minister Amit Shah greeted Hindi Day and said, "... the power of India's various languages ​​and dialects ... 'Hindi' is working to unite the whole nation ...".

 

 Mr Shah added that "Hindi is an integral part of Indian culture. It has been an effective and powerful medium of national unity and identity throughout the history of the freedom struggle or since. The greatest strength of Hindi is that it is scientific, original and simple".



  In another tweet, the Union Home Minister added, "The new education policy of the Narendra Modi government will develop other Indian languages, including Hindi."  According to a press release issued by the Home Ministry, Amit Shah is going to give a message on the occasion of Hindi Day today.



  Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal mentioned on the microblogging site how a, "... language plays an important role in the social, political and cultural landscape of a country ... Hindi language plays a key role in establishing unity in diversity".



  On Hindi Day, schools across India organize various activities to promote language use.  Every year from 14-21 September, ‘Official Language Week’ or Hindi Week is celebrated.  Various essay and poetry competitions, quizzes, art and other events are organized to celebrate Hindi Day.  This year, of course most of the events were done online due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
