Mumbai:

On Saturday, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch summoned the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Republic TV and two Chief Operating Officers (COOs) for questioning in a fake TRP rank case.


   Republic TV chief finance officer Shiv Subramaniam Sundaram and another official Ghanshyam Singh will not appear before the probe team, they said, adding that the news channel would appeal to the Supreme Court.


  CEO Bikash Khanchandani and COO Priya Mukherjee and Harsh Bhandari have now been directed to be present at the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Mumbai Crime Branch on Sunday.  News from PTI sources.


  Two officials of the Republican Media Network (Sundaram and Singh) did not comply with the summons citing an application filed in the apex court, but no order was received from the apex court to investigate the case, the latest summons said.


   The two men further stated in their statement that the agency advised them not to appear before the police, "it is important to record your statement on this matter", the CEO and two others were summoned.


  Although CFO Sundaram was not present, police recorded the statements of Madison World and Madison Communications chairman Sam Balsara on Saturday, an official said.


  Balsara was interrogated for more than eight hours by crime branch officers, who also recorded statements from accountants for box movies and fuck Marathi TV.


  Responding to a summons issued to him on Friday, Sundaram said the hearing before the apex court was scheduled to take place within a week.


  The CIU of the Crime Branch is investigating a fake Television Rating Points (TRP) racket.


  Police on Thursday arrested four people, including the owner of Marathi channel Fakhar Marathi and Box Cinema, in the case.


  Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh claimed that three channels, including Republic TV, were linked to the TRP scam.


  According to police, the complaint was lodged by TRP measuring body Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) through Hansa Research Group Pvt Ltd.
