Bihar Assembly Election 2020 Live Updates: Shiv Sena has termed the Mungar shooting as a "Hindutva attack" and questioned the policy silence of the Bihar governor and BJP leaders. According to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, "If such incidents had taken place in Maharashtra, West Bengal or Rajasthan, the governor and BJP leaders would have known about the President's demand for rule."
In Bihar, the turnout in the first round was 55.69 per cent yesterday, with about 2.15 crore eligible voters casting their ballots. According to the Election Commission, the turnout was higher than in the 2015 state elections and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Modi government has given special priority to Bihar by allocating twice as much funds as UPA: Anurag Tagore | Union Minister Anurag Singh Tagore said the Modi government has given special priority to Bihar with twice as much funding and assistance as during the UPA period. Accelerating the growth of the state, the Modi government has given Bihar a total amount of Rs 1,09,642 crore in the 2014-2019 financial year, double the total amount of Rs 50,008 crore through grant-in-aid during the UPA, he said. The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has given 119 per cent increase in the amount of funds it has given to Bihar, Thakur said.

In the 2015 Assembly elections, the turnout in the respective constituencies was 59.94 percent. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls - the same assembly seats are mapped to parliamentary seats - the turnout was 53.54 percent. "So, the turnout in the first round is higher than in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections," a spokesman said as the first final figures for the three-phase election were released on Thursday.
The next round of voting will take place on November 3 and the final round on November 7. A total of 71 Assembly votes were cast in 16 Bihar districts on Wednesday in the first phase with strict security and covid-19 guidelines. Of the 2.15 crore voters, 1.12 crore were men, 1.01 crore were women and 599 were considered third gender, according to the Election Commission.
