Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone of a drinking water supply project for rural villages in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts via video conference.
He also exchanged views with the members of the village water and sanitation committee.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The projects connect tap water to all rural households in 2,995 villages and the project will benefit about 42 lakh people.
Village Water and Sanitation Committees have been formed in all these villages and they will be in charge of managing and maintaining these matters.
The total estimated cost of the projects is Rs 5,555.38 crore.
The projects are targeted to be completed in 24 months under the 'Water Life Mission' announced by the Prime Minister on August 15 last year.
