 LNWH News: Speculation about his future political plans was in full swing.  Hooghly resigned as chairman of the River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC) on Thursday.  The speculation was multiplied several times.  Shuvendu Adhikari also resigned from the cabinet after leaving the security provided by the state government on Friday.  In other words, he had no other relationship with the grassroots.  Shuvendu has already sent his resignation letter to Navanne.  According to sources, Minister Rajiv Banerjee may also leave the ministry soon.

 Hughli MP Kalyan Bandyopadhyay was appointed to replace HRBC chairman after he resigned on Thursday.  Kalyan Banerjee was in that post before.  In HRBC, the position of welfare in place of Shuvendu was already considered significant by the political circles.  Trinamool welfare has been the most vocal against Shuvendu in the recent past.  He did not hesitate to call him 'dishonest' in public.  Many explain that the 'message' of the top leadership of the ruling party was clear in replacing that welfare with Shuvendu.  It is a kind of distrust towards Shuvendu.  Although Shuvendu had said a few days ago, 'The Chief Minister did not chase me, I did not go anywhere.'

 It is to be noted that for the last seven-eight years, the activity of Transport and Irrigation Minister Shuvendu in administrative work had come down drastically.  He used to come to the office less.  Only after the last cyclone Umpun he was seen in an enterprising role in the administrative work in Digha and the Sundarbans.  He has, of course, held many meetings since then.  But there was no grassroots banner.  Even, according to party tradition, there was no picture of Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee on his platform.  Shuvendu was holding a non-political meeting avoiding the party in public.  Speculation had started that he was joining the BJP.  However, he has not yet confirmed when Shuvendu will join the BJP.
