Chennai: Writer Arundhati Roy is angry over the withdrawal of her book from a Tamil Nadu university syllabus. The move follows complaints from the ABVP
Outraged author Arundhati Roy on Thursday slammed the state government for withdrawing her book from a university course in Tamil Nadu, calling the move "narrow, shallow and insecure". The book was withdrawn after allegations by the Akhil Bharatiya Chhatra Parishad (ABVP), a student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The book, Walking with the Comrades, was part of the university's postgraduate English curriculum, but was strongly opposed by the ABVP. The student body claimed that the book glorified the Maoists and supported violence, but they were not in favor of including the book in the university curriculum.
Reacting to the university's decision to remove his book, Arundhati Roy said, "I am happier than sad because I had no idea my book was in the syllabus."
