Prime Minister Modi today transferred Rs 18,000 crore to the bank accounts of nine crore farmers under the Prime Minister-Kisan Samman Nidhi project and today Atal Bihari Vajpayee will pay homage to the former Prime Minister on his birthday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also hold discussions and exchange views with farmers of six states on the occasion.
NEW DELHI: With millions of farmers protesting in the national capital and other parts of the country against the Centre's new agri-policy law, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold virtual talks with farmers on Friday and release another relief to farmers.
Prime Minister Modi today transferred Rs 18,000 crore to the bank accounts of nine crore farmers under the Prime Minister's-Kisan Samman Nidhi project.
The Prime Minister on December 25 transferred Rs 18,000 crore as the next installment under the Prime Minister Krishna Samman Nidhi project, and paid homage to the farmers as the birth anniversary of BJP veteran and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Prime Minister Modi will start transferring this amount at the push of a button.
During the event, he will hold discussions with farmers in six states. Several central government ministers, MPs, MLAs and BJP officials will be present to listen to Prime Minister Modi's talks with farmers.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the event from Delhi.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday accused the Congress party of ignoring the interests of farmers in its 10 years in power and their poverty to ensure cheap grain prices. He said that the Modi government has gradually empowered the farmers through the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report and paid their wages through the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
“It’s just the beginning. It will continue for 10 years and the total project is Rs 7 lakh crore, ”he said, adding that during the UPA regime, the Congress had waived only Rs 53,000 crore in farm loans.
This money did not reach the farmers. The loans were given to the banks in return, Javadekar said
