West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will address the Oxford Union debate on Wednesday afternoon. ‘He accepted the invitation in July this year. Banerjee will highlight some of the projects of the state government, he will also highlight the success of his "Kanyashree" project.
The Oxford Union was founded as a controversial society in the early 19th century. Prominent figures such as the Dalai Lama, Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein and Mother Teresa have participated in the debate.
Union students are asked to register online and submit their questions by 1 December. A few selected questions were sent to the Chief Minister, to which he will answer in his speech.
In 2010, when Mamata Banerjee was Railway Minister, she received an invitation from Cambridge University to give a lecture. He then denied it.
