World Health Organization experts will hold face-to-face meetings with their Chinese counterparts in the central city of Ohan on Friday in a bid to find the source of the long-awaited corona virus.

They will first visit the industrial and transport center on Friday and meetings should be held after the first field in its vicinity, the WHO said on Twitter, but did not elaborate on the team's agenda.

It said the team had already requested "detailed underlying data" and planned to talk to a few of the early responders and the first Covid-19 patient.

The WHO tweeted, ‘The team follows the scientific method to understand the source of the Covid 19 virus, because all the speculations are on it.

"Members should receive their support, access and necessary data as soon as they begin their initial inspection on Friday."

The members of the team have been inspecting the last two weeks in the necessary manner, during which time they contacted Chinese officials via video conference as the basis for a field visit.

People were brought in by three buses, probably to attend a preliminary meeting between the WHO and Chinese scientists.

The Geneva-based WHO said on Twitter late Thursday night that their team would visit laboratories at facilities such as the hospital, the first few segments of the market, such as the Huanan Seafood Market, the Bhuhan Institute of Virology and the Wuhan Center, to see what disease control measures are in place.

This mission has become politically important, as China sought to avoid blame for being accused in the early response to the outbreak.

Confirming the origin of the virus can take years. An outbreak of an animal reservoir usually requires thorough detailed research, including animal sampling, genetic analysis, and epidemiological surveys.

One possibility is that any wildlife hunter passed the virus to the traders who took it to Ohan.  With very little evidence that the Chinese government has given precedence to theories, the outbreak began with the importation of frozen seafood in which the possibility of a covid vaccine, they said, was finally rejected by international scientists and agencies.

The potential focus for investigators is the Wuhan Institute of Virology in the city where the outbreak began.  One of China's top virus research laboratories, created a repository of genetic information about bat coronavirus in 2003 after an outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome.

Only 36 new cases of local infections were dropped in China on Friday, even though the annual lunar New Year trip is almost closed.

Authorities have taken various steps to discourage travel this season

North 24-hour northeastern province of Heilongjiang has the highest number of new cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Jilin province in the south.  The capital, Beijing, and its adjoining provinces, Hebei, have reported one new case each.
