Pakistan Super League franchisees have filed a lawsuit against the PCB over the league's financial model.

  The franchisees of the IST Pakistan Super League have decided to go to court against the PCB over the current financial model of the league, saying they are only benefiting the board.

•   The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is once again in trouble after taking legal action against six franchise boards of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).  PSL franchisees have complained that they are being included in the loss after season after season.

  According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, PSL franchisees have filed a case in the Lahore High Court against the Pakistan Cricket Board for forcing the board to change the financial model of the T20 league.  PSL is one of the most popular franchise-based T20 leagues in the world.  However, the franchises that are part of the league are making money.

  In the petition filed by the PSL franchisees in the Lahore High Court, they asked the court to "formally resolve the grievances of all the franchisees" of the PCB and "to amend the PSL model in accordance with its statutory orders, rules and make it financially effective."  In August this year, the PSL franchisees jointly sent a letter to the PCB urging the board to revise the financial and ownership model.

  According to Pakistani media reports, the PSB has twice called on their PSL six franchises to discuss their demands.

  Earlier, the PCB, in response to a letter from the PSL franchisees, said that all parties would be invited to discuss the matter with them on their financial difficulties.  Controversy remains over the Karachi Kings, Lahore Calendars and Multan Sultans not defaulting on PCB payments.  The PCB was eliminated from the negotiating table in August in three PSL franchise defaulting games.

  The PSL 2020 version was discontinued for COVID-19 in March this year.  The remaining four matches of the PSL 2020 edition will be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in November this year.
