Voting is underway in 71 assembly constituencies in Bihar at 7 am on Wednesday in the first phase of the state's three-point assembly elections.  At this stage more than one thousand candidates are fighting.  This is the first election in India since the coronavirus outbreak in March.  The Election Commission is following the Covid-19 guidelines at all polling booths during polling and counting of votes.  Stay tuned here for full coverage of Bihar Assembly Election 2020.

   

  The rival alliance in the election and the single party is the opposition grand alliance consisting of Congress, CPI, CPI (M) and CPI (ML).
 
  In a frontal battle with the ruling NDA, comprising the JD (U), BJP, Bikashhil Insan Party and Hindustani Aom Morcha.  RJD's Tejaswi Yadav is the Mahaghatbandhan's chief ministerial candidate and Chief Minister and JD (U) president Nitish Kumar is fighting for the ruling alliance to retain his post.

  Heart attack claims death of polling agent in Nevada

  A polling agent known as Krishna Singh died of a heart attack at the Fulma booth in the Hishua assembly constituency in Naoda district.

 Bihar Parbat 1 point election voting latest update

  Voting was recorded at 14.56% till 11 am.
  Voting for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections began at 7am on Wednesday and a turnout of 14.56 per cent was recorded till 11am.  According to the Voter Turnout App, Lakhisarai recorded the highest turnout at 26.28 per cent, while Bhagalpur recorded the lowest at 5.27 per cent.
