Bihar Assembly Election Latest Update: The election is being held in 71 polling stations spread across 16 districts amid tight security and strict COVID-19 regulations.

  Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan today demanded that "the BJP-LJP will form a new government in Bihar and Nitish Kumar will not be able to retain his position after November 10."

  "Now people are voting for change and development. The feedback I am getting from my party's candidates and workers clearly indicates that CM Nitish Kumar will not be able to hold his post after November 10. BJP-LJP will form a new government in Bihar," the news agency reported.  ANI Chirag Paswan said in a statement.


  The first phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly elections on Wednesday ended peacefully, with 52.6 per cent of the nearly 2.15 crore eligible voters casting their ballots.  Their turnout, slightly lower than in 2015 due to the impact, has exercised their franchise.

  The survey was conducted in 71 constituencies spread across 16 districts amid tight security and covid-19 regulations.



 A statement from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Patna, said the turnout in these 16 districts in the 2015 elections was 54.75 per cent.


  This was the first major survey in the country to be conducted this Thursday, in the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic, and the last hour allotted was to extend the survey time by one hour from 6pm to give coronavirus patients a chance to vote.

  Written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, "Jungle Raj Ka Yuvraj", Bihar's opposition chief ministerial candidate Tejaswi Yadav today accused him of avoiding "real issues" such as corruption, jobs and the immigration crisis.


  "He is the prime minister of the country. He can say something. I don't want to comment on that. But when he came to Bihar, he should have talked about a special package, unemployment, more important issues."


  "This is the largest party in the world (BJP), they are using 30 helicopters in the election campaign ... If their prime minister speaks like this, the people know everything. But he should have spoken on issues like poverty, factories, farmers, unemployment."  Statement by the 31-year-old RJD leader.

  Nitish Kumar has said that if the NDA wins, Prime Minister Modi will make Bihar a "developed state".

 

   Bringing the 'Narendra Modi factor' to the forefront, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today addressed a BJP rally in Patna on the development work undertaken by the Prime Minister for Bihar and said that Narendra Modi would make it a "development" if the state wanted to bring the ruling NDA back to power.  .


  Praising Prime Minister Modi, Mr. Kumar mentioned several projects and said that the people of Bihar can never forget what he has to do for the state.


  "After listening to his (Narendra Modi's) plea, if you give the NDA a chance to work in the state once again, you can be sure that he will turn it into a developed state. Bihar will move forward," he said.

  Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Aurora on Wednesday said the Bihar Assembly Election Commission was discouraged by the coronavirus epidemic but the election panel had the idea that conducting the exercise was a "leap of faith" and not a leap in the dark.


  In the past break, the CEC took part in a poll panel briefing in New Delhi to announce the turnout of voters in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections on Wednesday.  Typically, the briefing is conducted by the respective Deputy Election Commissioners.

  The BJP brought charges against Rahul Gandhi for violating the Model of Conduct

  The BJP in Bihar on Wednesday lodged a complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with the Election Commission, and a tweet on election day sought to “ask for votes” alleging violation of the Electoral Code of Conduct.


  State BJP legal cell chief SD Sanjay Bihar had lodged a written complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer requesting "legal action" against Gandhi, who had held several rallies in the state the day before.


  According to the complaint, Mr Gandhi today issued a statement on Twitter asking for votes. The time for applying for the first round of voting was 28 hours earlier.
