 Kolkata:

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered a 20% reduction in fees for all "private aided schools" in the state in the current financial year due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.  A three-member committee has also been constituted by the court to investigate all fee-related allegations.


 A division bench of Justice Sanjeev Banerjee and Justice Mausumi Bhattacharya passed the order on the PIL application of the Guardian Forum of 145 educational institutions.  The court reduced the power of private schools to set any fees under a non-academic head.

  "No fees can be increased in FY 2020'-21 After schools reopen in physical mode from the beginning of April 2020, all 145 school boards will have to reduce by a minimum of 20 per cent. Unnecessary charges will not be levied for extra use.  , Craft, sports facilities or extracurricular activities or additional charges such as the months in which schools were not in physical mode are not allowed.  , ”


  It further said, “The minimum figure in the monthly tuition fee will be reduced on the basis of the same tuition fee of the last financial year.  If any school is harmed as a result of following these guidelines.  However, if the school is reopened by March 31, 2021.  However, consistency in compensating for such losses in the next two financial years will be considered subject to full negotiation. "
