New Delhi:

A statement issued by the Indian Army on October 1, 2020, citing posts by several Pakistani social media users, এ stated that "Indian Army officer Lieutenant General Taranjit Singh has been arrested on charges of treason."


  The Indian military has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating "Similar, baseless allegations concerning the organization have been made more than once.


   "Indian Army's Sikh General Le Jane. Taranjit Singh has been arrested on charges of treason against the Modi government," the post reads.



  On October 1, 2020, the Indian Army issued a statement claiming that Pakistan was conspiring against the Indian Army and in particular against Lt. Gen. Taranjit Singh, a senior officer in the Department of Military Affairs (DMA).  The protagonist of this false rumor has been reportedly arrested.


  The statement said, "Over the past few days, Pakistan has been conducting a state-sponsored campaign of malicious social media riots against the Indian Army and especially against Lt. Gen. Taranjit Singh, a senior official in the Department of Military Affairs (DMA)."  After failing miserably, Pakistan is now desperately trying to divide the Indian Army. "


  The Indian Army also said in a tweet that such posts were fake.

   On October 1, 2020, Lieutenant General Taranjit Singh issued a statement to the media regarding the Secretary of the Army (DMA) and the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) working in intensive corporations at the headquarters of the three services.
