CARIKAR, Afghanistan, December 19 (Xinhua) - A missile fired by the armed forces on Saturday hit a US NATO base in Bagram district, northern Parwan province of Kabul, Authorities said there was no direct damage.
"Five rockets were fired at Bagram Airport on Saturday from an abandoned truck parked in the Calander Hill area of Bagram District at around 5:50 am local time," Wahida Shahkar told reporters via text message.
He said seven missiles had failed and defused by Afghan security forces.
Further details of the incident are pending.
Bagram Airport, about 50 km north of the Afghan capital, Kabul, has been an important military base for the US and NATO in Afghanistan for 19 years.
