 Thirty-two farmers' organizations are protesting against the Centre's controversial agriculture law.  A day after appealing to the Supreme Court, the farmers intensified their protest as they planned to block the Delhi-Jaipur highway.  Peasant leaders have denied claims that "ultra-left" and "left-wing extremist" elements have hijacked their movement.  Thousands of police on duty point, there is a movement to shut down access to the national capital.

 

  Two thousand police personnel in Gurgaon and 3500 police personnel in Faridabad are on duty to prevent the protesters and maintain law and order, officials said.  Two cities in Haryana share a border with Delhi.

  On Friday, the Indian Krishan Union filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking quashing of three "voluntary" laws.  The apex court has already issued notice to the Center in a batch challenging the law.

  The stalemate could erupt as the new law is enacted in the third week, with the ruling BJP planning a massive campaign across the country.  As part of the campaign and as part of a crackdown on those in power, 100 press conferences and farmers' meetings are planned in 700 districts, party sources said.

  On Friday, protesters called their movement "ultra-left" on behalf of the BJP.  "We reject the government's demand. No one can influence us," said the farmers' organization.

  This is the government's propaganda to insult us.  All the decisions have been taken by the Sammilita Kisan Union, "said Ramindra Singh Patial, president of Kirti Kisan Sangstha, a group of 32 protesters.

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken more than 25 times on agricultural reforms and led the government’s efforts to reach out to farmers, with top sources saying on Friday that the new farm laws, based on widespread protests, challenged the notion that the law was implemented without adequate consultation.

  "The Prime Minister has discussed more than 25 times. More than 2.23 crore SMSes were sent to farmers in October and there were 1,37,054 webinars which reached 92 lakh farmers and the Agriculture Minister (Narendra Tomar) held multiple meetings," he said.  The news is being received from the government

  In Haryana, BJP's ally Deputy Chief Minister Dushayant Chautala on Friday said he was determined to secure the guarantee of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers.  He will resign from his post if Berth.

 The issue of MSPs is also included in the written proposals of the protesting farmers by the Central Government.  The news agency ANI quoted a report as saying,

  Earlier this week, protesters unanimously rejected a written proposal to amend the Farm Act by the Center Act and decided to hold a full-fledged QQ across the country to protest them.

  A meeting with Amit Shah earlier this week failed to resolve the stalemate.  At the end of the meeting, the sixth consultation between the farmers and the protesters was canceled.

  Thousands of farmers have been camping on the outskirts of Delhi since late November.  They will benefit the corporates of this new law, so the movement to amend the law continues.
