Washington:

The "Khalistani" flag was seen at a protest outside the Indian High Commission in London earlier this month.  Where protesters were chanting anti-India and pro-peasant slogans.

Opponents of Indian agricultural law were protesting in Washington on Saturday (local time) when a statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalized. The "Khalistani" flag was also hung on the statue.

The farmers' protests are a concern between India and Pakistan, said British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

US elements of khalistan took advantage of a protest by farmers in Delhi to desecrate a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian embassy in downtown Washington on Saturday.

A statue of the Mahatma was vandalized in Washington on June 3 earlier this year during a protest against blacks in the United States over George Floyd.  Later, an expert was brought in to rebuild the Gandhi statue.

The statue was desecrated through graffiti and spray painting, with the Indian Mission filing complaints with local law enforcement agencies.  The desecrated statue of Gandhi, designed by Gautam Pal, was later covered.

The Indian Embassy in the United States has filed a case with the Metropolitan Police and the National Park Police.  The matter was immediately reported to the Foreign Office.  The Deputy Secretary Foreign Affairs called on the Indian Ambassador to resolve the issue.  Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Bigun apologized for the incident.  A month later, Bigun inaugurated the renovated statue of Mahatma Gandhi with Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu.

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, "Those who believe in stability cannot make history."

The statue was erected by former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his state visit to the United States on September 16, 2000 in the presence of then US President Bill Clinton.

Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and several other states have been protesting at the Delhi border for the past 17 days against the three-farm law.
