On Friday, CBI filed charges against four defendants over the alleged murder and rape of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hatras.
The agency cited gang rape and murder charges against Sandiip, Luvkush, Ravi and Rama, and a local court in Hatras had found the defendant's lawyer told reporters outside the court.
The victim was reportedly raped on September 14 by a group of four men from the upper caste community in Hatras. He later died of his wounds in a Delhi hospital.
The victim was cremated at night at his home on September 30. Her family claims that they were forced to perform their final rituals by the local police.
However, local police said the cremation was carried out "according to the wishes of the family".
The role of the accused has been analyzed by the agency. They are Sandip, Luvkush, Ravi and Rama.
They also underwent various forensic tests at the forensic laboratory in Gandhinagar, they said.
The CBI team met the doctors at the Jaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital where the victim was being treated. Most of his body was burnt.
Yogi Adityanath Sarkar received many such cases which were later referred to CBI.
The CBI formed an investigation team and submitted them to the Ghaziabad office
The team has recorded statements from family members of the victims.
