Sushant Singh Rajput, Sushant Case, CBI
In August, the Supreme Court ordered a CBI investigation into the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmuh said Sunday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) must disclose the results of the investigation into the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
"It has been more than five months since the investigation began, but the CBI has not disclosed whether actor Sushant Singh Rajput was murdered or killed by suicide. I ask CBI to reveal the results of the investigation as soon as possible," Deshmuh said.
The actor was found dead on June 14 at his residence in Mumbai. Mumbai police, who say the actor died by suicide, are conducting an initial investigation into the case. In August, the Supreme Court ordered a CBI investigation into the case.
CBI contacted AIIMS forensic department for a second opinion on Rajput's autopsy. The forensic team presented its report to CBI and said there was no evidence that it was not suicide.
Several agencies have launched parallel investigations into the case: CBI is investigating a suicide case, law enforcement agencies are investigating a money laundering point of view and the Bureau of Drug Control (NCB) is investigating a drug-related perspective.
As part of the investigation, several Bollywood stars were interviewed by NCB. The NCB investigation is based on multiple WhatsApp conversations with drugs.
The agency had previously arrested Rajput's girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty, brother Shawick, several employees of the late film star and several others under the provisions of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Rhea, her brother and several other defendants were later given bail.
