On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the National War Memorial (NWM) in Delhi, where he Ignition" "Swarnim Vijay Mashaal " The 50th anniversary of the Indo-Pakistani war that took place in 1971

In an official statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Defense said: "In December 1971, Indian forces secured a decisive and historic victory over the Pakistani army, which resulted in the creation of a nation - Bangladesh - and the largest military surrender since World War II.  From 16 December, the country will celebrate 50 years of the India-Pak War, also known as "Swarnim Vijay Varsh." Various memorial services are planned across the country. ""

                         

Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by Defense Minister Rajnat Singh. The Prime Minister, the Head of Defense and the heads of the three services laid wreaths and paid tribute to the fallen soldiers.


On this occasion the Prime Minister lit "Swarnim Vijay Mashaal" from the eternal flame of the National Military Monument.

"Four victory torches will be lit from the eternal flame of the NWM. These torches will travel to different parts of the country, including the Param Chakra and Mahabir Chakra award winning villages of 1971.  Done "


  Various commemorative events will be conducted at Pan-India where war veterans and heroic women will be honored and events like band performances, equipment demonstration seminars, exhibitions, documentaries, country festivals, film festivals, conclaves and adventure activities will be organized.

State Defense Minister Shripad Jeso Naik and senior civilian and military officials from the Ministry of Defense also attended.


Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 16 December each year to commemorate India's victory in liberating Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971.


In one of the fastest and shortest campaigns in military history, a new nation was born as a result of the Indian Army's swift campaign.


In light of the defeat in the 1971 war, then Pakistani army commander Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi surrendered along with his 93,000 troops to the Allied forces, which also consisted of Indian army personnel.
