Top Indian cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Guru Randhava were arrested in Mumbai after the attack on Mumbai's dragonfly club near Mumbai Airport. The two were later released on bail.

A total of 34 people were arrested in the attack, including seven club members in Mumbai. The defendants were registered for violating the Covids rules.

A senior Sahara police officer said singer Guru Randhava and cricketer Suresh Raina were among those arrested and placed on suspicion for breaking the rules. The defendants were later released on bail.

Mumbai Police said 34 people, including cricketer Suresh Raina and others, had been booked under Article 188 (non-compliance with a warrant issued by a government official), 269 (who had committed illegal or negligent acts) whom he was aware of or had reason to believe was it can spread infection to life-threatening disease), 34 (multi-person action to support shared intent) of IPC and NMDA regulations.

The arrests came after an attack on the Dragonfly pub to keep the restaurant open beyond the permitted time and not complying with Covid regulations.

On Monday, the Maharashtra government announced a curfew on the city's business areas to raise concerns about a new version of the spread of the coronavirus in Britain and restrict flights.

As a precautionary measure ahead of the New Year, the Maharashtra government imposed a series of restrictions on public activities in the state, and in particular in Mumbai, from December 22 to January 5.
