40 people died and several others disappeared due to fear of drowning after a bus carrying about 50 to 60 passengers crashed off a bridge on the Bansagar Canal near Patna village in the Sidhi neighborhood of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday morning. Rescue operations are ongoing.
NDTV said the current charge was 32, while the minister of state confirmed that at least 30 bodies had been found.

Inspector General (Revazona) Umesh Yoga said at least seven people swam in a safe spot after the bus landed at around 8:30 am in a canal near Patna village, about 80 km from the base in Sidhi district. According to sources, at the time of the accident, at least 50 passengers were traveling by the poor bus.

SDRF and divers have reached the location. Water from the Bansagar Canal flows into the Sihawal Canal to lower the water level and facilitate rescue operations.
