  Reaching out to families from remote areas and speaking to operators around the world, Kerala ham operators provided selfless service during the test.

  As part of the World Radio Day celebrations on Saturday, they held talks with international figures from Ham Networks about their long-term involvement in disaster management.  "During the floods and lockdowns, we have collected and consolidated data with district health teams across the country. Our little effort has turned into relief for many families, after which we are satisfied," said the director, Kerala Amateur Radio Institute.

 

  Operators will also demonstrate the effectiveness of satellite communications via HAMS, very high frequency (VHF), ultra-high frequency (UHF) communications and high-frequency communications (HF).  Following the Covid protocol, the goal of the show is to introduce newcomers through the subtleties of HAM radio communication from 7am to 8.30pm.

 Ham operators regularly communicate with about 240 countries.  "Typically, we share minutes with technical details of our stations and equipment through Q codes as part of our daily two-way conversation.  Contacted and confirmed rescue, ”Shastri said.

  A two-day 'Field Day' will also be organized across the state on February 27 and 28 to gather contact information for future disasters.
