MUMBAI-

 Preliminary information indicates that 25 people were rescued from the rubble of the building in the Patel compound area.


  A three-storey building collapsed in Bhandi, near Mumbai, this morning, killing 10 people and leaving about 25 trapped in the rubble.



  According to preliminary data, 31 people have been rescued from the collapsed rubble of the building in the Patel Compound area.  One of the 11 people rescued by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officials was a child.



  The building collapsed around 4:30 am. At least 20 people were rescued by locals.


  Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the loss of his life in the building collapse and said he was praying for a speedy recovery for the injured.

  


  According to locals, the accident took place in Vibandi town around 3.30 am.


  "Ten people have died, we have rescued 11 people alive," said a Thane city official.


  A team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and more than 40 emergency workers, including 30 rescue workers, were on the scene.


  NDRF Director General Satya Narayan Pradhan tweeted that teams equipped with special equipment and sniffer dogs were trying to rescue a "20-25" - "trapped man".


  About 20 families lived in the building.  Which was about 40 years old.
