President Donald Trump spoke there earlier on Friday.
Four hijacked planes pounded the Pentagon's World Trade Center in New York and, in the face of resistance from passengers, crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history, killing nearly three thousand people.

Joined by First Lady Melania Trump, Mr Trump attended a morning service at the Shanksville memorial, where Flight 93 crashed after its 40 passengers and crew prevented al-Qaeda hijackers from reaching the US Capitol building.
"To the family members of Flight UA 93: today every heartbeat in America is wedded to yours," Mr Trump said. "Your pain and anguish is the shared grief of our whole nation."

Where is Biden?
Mr. Biden and his wife, Jill, attended a memorial service and commemoration at the 9/11 Museum in New York City.
They went to Shansville in the afternoon to see the same monument as Mr. Trump. Mr Biden greeted family members of those killed in the attack.
He and his wife laid a wreath at the memorial.
Mr Biden told reporters Friday morning that he would cover the 9/11 incident, would not talk about politics, and would not use his program on television as a political propaganda or commercial material.
“We’ve dropped all of our ads, it’s a special day and we’ll keep it that way,” he said.
Mr. Biden greeted Mr. Pence at the World Trade Center site in New York earlier in the day.
Mr Biden referred to the epidemic in a series of tweets the following day: "This year we celebrate the anniversary of 9/11 in the midst of another crisis that forced our American people to call the best American people to account for the irresponsible, unimaginable loss."

Mr. Pence made brief remarks in New York City and read passages from the Bible: "I pray that these ancient words will soothe your heart and us."
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, attended the ceremony at the memorial with Mr. Pence and Mr. Biden.

On social media, some people expressed their hatred of the anti-Muslim sentiment that has spread across the country since 9/11, referring to how they have been brutally radicalized or polished.
