No casualties have been reported so far.

Vivekananda Kadam, head of the district disaster control center, said in his speech, "A magnitude 3.5 earthquake was recorded at 3.29 am, followed by a magnitude of 3.5. 3.5 in the morning and a magnitude of 7.6 at 3.57am and a magnitude of 3.6."

According to Dahanu Sub-Divisional Officer Ashima Mittal, "Apart from these, three earthquakes, which were 3.0 on the Richter scale, were followed by five more 2.2 to 2.8 magnitude earthquakes between 3am and 7am."

Local tehsildars have already been instructed to visit the villages.

Significantly, more or less magnitude earthquakes were felt in Dahanu and Talasari districts over the last few days.  Last night between Friday and Saturday, four such earthquakes were felt.  One of the highest intensities recorded was 4.0.

Residents of these areas have been living in large open tents in the open fields in the villages in fear of recent earthquakes and as a precaution.  Mittal said locals can stay in tents if they feel insecure in their homes.

Meanwhile, district authorities have issued an audio message, warning villagers in the Dahanu region of the "earthquake-risky" area.

Following the tremors that were felt last week, the walls of several houses in Talasari and Dahanu collapsed.  Cracks appeared in several houses.

Mittal said a disaster coordination committee has been formed at the village level.  Instructed the Civil Defense personnel to be ready to assist in any situation.

"Mock drills will be run in the villages to make people aware of what to do and what not to do," he said.

The Dahanu area of Palghar and the village of Dundalwadi have been the epicenter of the quake since November 2018.
