  MUMBAI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued an orange warning for Mumbai and Thane, along with a hint of heavy rain. The latest Mumbai Weather Updates are- The Santa Cruz Observatory recorded the highest rainfall of 286.4mm in 24 hours, starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Meteorological Department.  Meanwhile, Santa Cruz received 286.8 mm of rainfall in different parts of Mumbai, Colaba 147.8mm, Thane 119.8mm, Ratnagiri 39.5mm and Sagittarius 42.1mm.

    Local train services have been suspended from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on the Central Railway main line and to CSMT Vasi on Harbor Line including Thane.  Chief Railway Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Shivaji Sutar said, “The tracks have sunk.  It is not safe to run a local train until the water level drops.  Looking at the safety of the passengers, it has been decided to stop the service till the water recedes.  ”Two long-distance trains (02110, 02109) were canceled and three (05645, 01301, 02534) were rescheduled.


 Due to heavy rains in Mumbai todey, Mumbai-based civic body, Brihannumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), non-essential business entities have applied for closure today.  Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh urged people not to leave their homes.
