Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch the Digital Prime Minister's Fisheries Resource Scheme (PMMSY) 

New Delhi - Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch the Digital Prime Minister's Fisheries Resource Scheme (PMMSY) on September 10.  The Prime Minister will also launch an information portal "e-Gopala" app on the improved market for a fish breed for direct use by farmers.  The Prime Minister will inaugurate several other issues in the fisheries and animal husbandry sector of Bihar on this occasion.

  Details of the Prime Minister's Fisheries Resources Scheme

  The Prime Minister's Fisheries Resource Scheme (PMMSY) is a major project for the environment, concentration, modern and sustainable development of the country's fisheries sector with an investment of approximately Rs. 2,000 crore.

   As part of the Self-Reliance India project package, an investment of Rs. 20,050 crore will be made in all the States / UTs for a period of 5 years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25.  20,050 crore under PMMSY is the highest ever in the fisheries sector.  The money will be spent in two phases - about Rs 12,340 crore for facilities-based activities in marine, inland fisheries and aquaculture and about Rs 7,710 crore for fisheries infrastructure.

 The goal of PMMSY

 PMMSY aims to increase fish production by an additional 7 million tonnes by 2024-25, increase fish export earnings by Rs.100,000 by 2024-25, double the number of fish farmers and fisherfolk, increase losses from fish seedlings  To reduce from -25% to 10%. To create additional 55 lakh employment opportunities in direct and indirect profitable employment in fisheries sector and related activities.

  PMMSY explores methods for fish production and productivity, quality, technology, infrastructure and management, modernization and strengthening of chains, establishment of a strong fishery management framework and addressing key aspects of fishermen welfare.

 E-Gopal app

  The e-Gopala app is a breeding market and information portal for direct use by farmers.  At present, there is no digital platform in the country for farmers to manage livestock, including buying and selling all kinds of disease-free germs (semen, embryos, etc.);  Warnings on quality government breeding services (artificial insemination, veterinary first aid, vaccines, treatment, etc.) and warnings about various government projects and promotions in animal guidance areas for animal treatment using appropriate ayurvedic / ethno-veterinary drugs.  Etc. on the scheduled date) and arrangements for informing the farmers.  The solution will be through e-Gopala application.

 The PMMSY project initially focuses on creating ‘through’ fishery clusters.  Employment creation like beaches and ornamental fish farming.  It emphasizes intervention on quality broods, seeds and feeds, special focus for species diversification, critical infrastructure, marketing networks, etc.

  So far, the Department of Fisheries under PMMSY has approved proposals worth Rs. 1723 crore for 21 States / UTs in the first phase.

  An investment of Rs 1,390 crore is envisaged for PMMSY in Bihar with central shares at Rs 535 crore.  The target for additional fish production has been set at 3 lakh tonnes.  During the current financial year (2020-21), the Government of India has approved a total proposal of the Government of Bihar at a total cost of Rs. 107.00 crore for the installation of Re-circulation Aqueduct (RAS), construction of bioflocks.  Ponds for aquaculture, finfish hatcheries, construction of new ponds for aquaculture, ornamental fish culture units, cages in reservoirs / wetlands, ice trees, refrigerated vehicles, motor cycles with ice boxes, cycles with ice boxes, fish feed plants, expansion and  Support Services (Fisheries Service Center), Establishment of Brood Bank etc.

 Other inaugurations related to the fisheries sector

  The Prime Minister will announce the establishment of Fish Brood Bank at Sitamarhi and Aquatic Disease Referral Laboratory at Kishanganj, for which these facilities will ensure timely availability of quality and affordable fish seeds for fish farmers and address the need for diagnosis as well as water and soil testing facilities.

  He will inaugurate two units of Fish Feed Mill and Fish on Wheels in Madhepura with the help of Patna under the Blue Revolution.  He will enjoy the ceremony and exchange views with them.

 The Prime Minister will inaugurate a semen station with state-of-the-art facilities set up under the State Gokul Mission at Purnia in Bihar with an investment of Rs 84.2 crore on 75 acres of land provided by the state government of Bihar.  It is one of the largest semen stations in the public sector with an annual semen dose production capacity of 5 million.  This semen station will give a new dimension to the development and conservation of indigenous breeds in Bihar and meet the demand for semen doses in the Eastern and North Eastern States.

  The Prime Minister will inaugurate the IVF Lab established at the Animal Sciences University, Patna under the State Gokul Mission.  A total of 30 ETT and IVF laboratories are being set up across the country.  These labs are important for the promotion of indigenous breeds of indigenous breeds and through this to increase milk production and productivity manifold.
