Comedian Bharati Singh has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after her husband Harsh Limbachia was arrested for possession of cannabis from her home and office. The two have been remanded in judicial custody till December 4.
Comedian Bharati Singh was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on November 21 after seizing cannabis from his home in Andheri, Maharashtra. The agency also arrested her husband Harsh Limbachia in a drug-related case. Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachia were produced in Kuila court on Sunday afternoon, they were later remanded in judicial custody till December 4, Bharti Singh was sent to Kalyan Jail, Harsh Limbachia was sent to Taloja Jail.
Earlier in the day, NCB zonal director Samir Wankhade confirmed the arrest of Hersh Limbachia by the agency. He said there were allegations that Bharti Singh and Harsh used only cannabis in Limbachia.
After their arrest, the NCB produced comedian Bharti Singh, Harsh Limbachia and two other drug dealers in Kuila court. According to the latest developments, Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachia have been remanded in judicial custody till December 4. The other two drivers have been remanded in police custody.
Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachia have also applied for bail in the drug case scheduled for hearing on Monday.
According to the NCB, 86.5 grams of cannabis were seized on Saturday morning in a search of both the Lokhandwala complex and the office, Bharti Singh's house, as part of an investigation into drug use in the entertainment sector.
The amount of cannabis seized by the NCB from Bharti Singh is treated as a "small amount" of "commercial quantity" under the Act.
In a press release, the NCB said, "Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachia both used cannabis. Bharti Singh was arrested under the Narcotics and Narcotics and (NDPS) Act ..."

On Saturday, the NCB arrested a 21-year-old drug dealer from the Khar Danda area for possession of various drugs, including commercial quantities of LSD, marijuana and nitrazepam (psychotropic drugs).
Bharti Singh has appeared in many comedy and reality shows on TV.
