 Dhanteres or Dhantrayodashi Diwali is the beginning of the festival of Diwali and the auspicious day is celebrated on the thirteenth day (thirteenth) of Krishnapaksha in the lunar month of Kartik.  This day is very auspicious for millions of Hindus because they worship Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Dhanvantari, Lord Kubera (god of wealth) and Yamraj (god of death) in Dhanteras.

 On the day of Dhanteras, Hindus also worship Dhanvantari, who is considered to be the God of Ayurveda, to impart knowledge of Ayurveda to mankind to free them from the pains of disease.  The Government of India has announced that Dhanteras Day will be observed as ‘National Ayurveda Day’.  It was first observed on October 28, 2016.  From this year, it will be celebrated on 13 November.


 Here are five tips to help you get started:


 1. Donate clothes


 Giving clothes to a needy person during Dhanteras is considered to be a very noble deed.  If the clothes are either red or yellow.  It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi is happy when you donate clothes of Dhanteras.
