Two Army and one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan were killed in an operation near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. Earlier in the day, two intruders were killed when the army made an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC).

A defense spokesman said a patrol of the militants' army intercepted the militants as they tried to infiltrate and they were contacted.
Defense spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said, "Suspicious movements of unidentified persons were detected near the LC fence in Machil sector (Kupwara district of north Kashmir) at 0100 hours on November 7-8 night."
