Nigerian police have warned that militants could launch an attack on Christmas Eve

Nigeria: Boko Haram militants launched a major attack in northeastern Nigeria before Christmas.  Militants attacked a church during the ceremony, killing 11 people.  Also abducted were seven people, including a church priest.

The militants appeared on trucks and bikes in the village of Pemi in Borno state on Thursday evening.  The militants entered the village and started firing randomly.  One house after another was set on fire.  After that, the murder was carried out by entering the church.  Seven people, including a priest, were abducted.  The militant leader Abwaku Kabu also said this in the media.

"A total of 10 houses were set on fire," Kabu said.  7 people have been killed.  The food stored in the church for the festival has been looted.  Later, the bodies of 4 more people were recovered from the bushes next to the church.

Next to the province of Borno is the Sambisa forest.  The militants came from there.  That is what the Nigerian police said.  He also attacked a hospital in his area before attacking the church.  From there they looted drugs and other equipment.  Six years ago, militants abducted 200 schoolgirls from Pemi village.  The militants also attacked the Christian-dominated Garkida on Thursday.

Nigerian police have warned that militants could launch an attack on Christmas Eve.  The country's president, Mohamed Buhari, said in a statement that every effort was being made to protect the country's Christian community from Boko Haram attacks.  Ordinary people also have to stand up against those militants.  Otherwise they cannot be stopped.
