  Jammu: Pakistani troops opened fire at a forward post near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Punch district.  A ceasefire violation and a Border Security Force (BSF) officer were martyred on Tuesday.


  The firing from across the border in the Tarakundi area of ​​Mendhar sector was 'undisclosed', BSF officials said in a statement.

  Manzoor Ahmad Kohli, SHO Mender, said a BSF sub-inspector was killed by Pakistani troops in Punch.

  The body of the martyr will be flown to Imphal and then to his birthplace Vil-Mafhukuki Post-Lamlong Di-Sadar District-Senapati Rajya-Manipur, where his last rites will be performed with full state honors.  In this time of grief, BSF has expressed its condolences to the bereaved family of the martyred family.


  The tragic incident happened on a day when the BSF is celebrating its 56th Raising Day today.


  President Ram Nath Kobind, VPM Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah today greeted the BSF workers on the occasion.
