  Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij tweeted this morning that he was positive for the coronavirus.  Mr Biz, 67, said he was admitted to Ambala Civil Hospital.  He arrived two weeks after taking a dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

 

  All those whom the minister contacted have also been asked to examine them.

  Mr Biz tweeted, "I have been tested positive for corona. I am admitted to Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt. All those who have come in close contact with me should be tested."

  On November 20, Mr. Vij, who was the Health Minister of Haryana, took part in the trial of the third phase of India Biotech's Kovacin and received a test dose of the coronavirus vaccine.  He had earlier announced on Twitter that he was the first volunteer in his state for the covid vaccine.

  I tested positive for corona.  I was admitted to Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt.  Everyone who has come in close contact with me will be tested.

 Antibodies against infection come after taking a second dose of a certain amount of vaccine, as it is a two-dose vaccine.  "The Minister has taken only one dose of the vaccine," the Union Health Ministry said in a statement following Mr Anil Vij's announcement.

  Bharat Biotech, which is developing the vaccine, said the clinical trials of the covacin were based on a two-dose schedule with 28-day intervals.  "The efficacy of the vaccine will be determined on the 14th day after the second dose. The covacin was designed to be effective when two doses are taken," the pharmaceutical manufacturer said in response to the news of a positive test from the Haryana minister.

  About a thousand subjects have been studied in the first two phases of clinical trials, including covaxin-promising protection and immunogenicity data.

  "Phase-3 trials are bi-blind and randomly generated, with 50% of the subjects (taking part in the test) receiving the vaccine and 50% of the subjects being available in placebo," the agency said.

  Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain tweeted to Mr Vij wishing him a speedy recovery and said he hoped the center would "address the concerns raised about the vaccine and evaluate the vaccine as completely safe and effective".

  In Haryana, a three-member representative of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), an ally of the BJP alliance, met Mr Viz on Friday and demanded withdrawal of cases registered in the state against farmers who took part in protesting the new agriculture bill.  The delegation was led by JJP state unit chief Nishan Singh and was also attended by senior party leader Digvijay Singh Chautala.  Yoga guru Ramdev also met Mr Anil Vij's on Tuesday.

  Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar tested positive for the coronavirus in August.  And he was admitted to a private hospital in Gurgaon, Delhi.  State Assembly Speaker Xian Chand Gupta was found positive two days before the assembly session.

  There have been 2.4 lakh Kovid cases in Haryana so far, of which 2,599 have died.Q
