Rapper DMX, originally called Earl Simmons, passed away from cardiac arrest on April 9 at the age of 50. The late rapper was honored by close friends and family on April 9 at a public memorial service at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The rappers' casket was carried in a huge monster truck for the final farewell in a procession in which several fans of the musician took part. The memorial service was opened by Kanye West and his Sunday service choir.
A medley of songs like Back to Life, Keep on Movin and more in honor of DMX. The late rappers' red coffin with the Ruff Ryders logo remained in the center as the choir performed an emotional rendition of Amen.
This included tributes to DMX from other artists such as Nas, Swizz Beatz and others. According to People, Swizz Beatz said goodbye to the rapper emotionally, saying, "I wish all these people would introduce themselves to him when he was here." The service was also broadcast live on YouTube to fans around the world who mourned rapper's death.
Aside from the monster truck with the DMX coffin, the streets were also filled with hundreds of cyclists joining the procession.
To the musicians 'songs, such as the anthem by Ruff Ryders, the 15 children from DMX also gathered on stage to talk about their parents' legacy and the lessons learned from it, while paying a moving tribute to him.
