At least 25 people were killed and more than 50 injured after a bomb exploded near a school in western Kabul, citing the Afghan Interior Ministry.
Dozens of militants were previously killed in Afghanistan's Baghlan province when government forces launched a counter-offensive to repel attacks by the Taliban, a police officer said on Friday.
"Dozens of armed insurgents have been killed in the past 48 hours and Taliban attacks have been repelled in Nahrin, Baghlan-e-Markazai and Dahn-e-Ghori districts," the official said. he told the Xinhua News Agency.
He added that reinforcements had been secured and the situation would soon be under control. Taliban militants have taken over parts of troubled Baghlan province in recent days.
Meanwhile, Brigadier Safihullah Mohammadi, who serves as a member of the reinforcement forces in Baghlan, told reporters on Friday that around 100 Taliban fighters had been killed and wounded in operations supported by airplanes in the past two days.
