Nine major sports unions in the United States met on Monday to declare their opposition to state legislative efforts restricting the right to vote.

Various constituencies say restrictions put in place by Georgia, weighed in Texas and Arizona, among others, target black.
The declaration was jointly signed by the National Basketball Players Association, the Basketball Players Union, the Major League Soccer Players Association, and the National football League Players Association and the United States Women's National Team Players Association, as well as players' associations representing the elite's ice hockey, soccer and women's basketball represented.

"Regardless of our political affiliation, however, we believe that the foundation of our electoral process lies in the ability of each and every one of us to cast our vote for the candidates of our election."
We must all feel obliged to uphold the right to vote and to oppose discriminatory laws or measures that restrict or prevent a voter from voting.
The other groups are the National Women's Hockey League Players Association, the National Women's Soccer League Players Association, the Professional Women's Hockey League Players Association, and the National Women's Basketball Players Association.
