  Assam:

  Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi died on Monday after his condition deteriorated.  He was 84 at the time of his death.

  Gogoi was admitted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital in Guwahati.  He tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) on August 25 and was hospitalized for two months.

  The Chief Minister of Assam was again admitted to the hospital due to complications following Kovid.  Gogoi was later admitted on November 2 due to shortness of breath.

 

  News of Gogoi’s death was tweeted by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal that he was on his way from Dibrugarh to Guwahati to meet the senior Congress leader.  Flying back to Guwahati from Dibrugarh after canceling my program to stay with the venerable young Gogoi Da and his family due to the deteriorating health of the former Chief Minister.  He has always been a father figure to me, ”he wrote on the microblogging site.

  Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had multiple organ failures and doctors on Sunday dialyzed him as he was having difficulty urinating naturally due to kidney problems.

  Prayer meetings were held across the state for the speedy recovery of the former chief minister.  Gogo's wife Dolly, daughter Chandrima and son Gaurav, who was a Congress MP from Kaliabar in Assam, were all present at the hospital.
