#Aden, Dec 31---At least 22 people have been killed in three bomb blasts at #Yemen's #Adenairport, just minutes after members of a new power-sharing government arrived in the country, the interior ministry said in a statement.

A statement from the pro-government ministry in the southern port city of Aden said 50 more people had been injured in the blast on Wednesday, Xinhua news agency reported.

The statement indicated that the blasts targeted local officials and employees who had gathered to welcome government members at the airport.

President Abu Rabbu Mansour Hadi has accused the Huthi rebel group of being behind the blasts.

He formally directed the formation of a committee.  To investigate the severity of the attack against Aden Airport.

According to the state-run Saba News Agency, the Saudi-led coalition has been appointed to head the investigation committee in Aden.

He spoke by telephone with Prime Minister Moin Abdulmalik and said that "terrorist acts by Iran-backed Houthi militias and extremist terrorist groups will not temporarily discourage the legitimate government from taking over the capital, Aden."

A statement posted on Twitter said, "We are deeply saddened that one of our colleagues was killed in an explosion at Aden airport."

The Red Cross added: "Two more are unharmed and three are injured. Our staff were traveling to the airport with other civilians. This is a sad day for us and the people of Yemen."

Earlier this month, Hadi said he had issued a decree to form a new power-sharing government in Yemen under Saeed's leadership, a move that was welcomed both regionally and internationally.

The new government consists of a portfolio of 24 ministers, divided evenly between Yemen's northern and southern provinces.

The terms of the Riyadh Peace Accord, signed in November 2019, were jointly signed between the new Yemeni government and the leaders of the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

In 2019, Saudi Arabia agreed to renegotiate the STC and the Yemeni government, resulting in an agreement to form a new technocrat cabinet of more than 24 ministers.

However, there have been setbacks in the implementation of the agreement, which has left out Huthi rebels who still control the capital Sanaa and the war-torn Arab province of Uttar Pradesh.

The impoverished Arab country was embroiled in a civil war in late 2014, when the elephants dispersed most of the country and occupied all the northern regions, including Sanaa.
