Coronavirus vaccination efforts will begin January 16, 2021. Priority will be given to health workers and frontline workers, estimated at 3 crore, followed by those over 50 and groups under 50 with illness around 27 crore, the government said on Saturday .

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister  Narendra Modi chaired a meeting to review the state of COVID-19 in the country and the readiness of the country / UT to be vaccinated against COVID today.

The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, the Prime Minister's Chief Secretary, the Minister of Health and other senior officials.

The coronavirus vaccination kits began on January 16.
